Bruckner appeared as a teenage girl on the show Blue Car (2002). The character was a young girl who was involved in an affair with David Strathairn's teacher. Roger Ebert wrote in his review of the film that Bruckner handles this difficult film with complete ease. Bruckner won one Independent Spirit Award as "Best female character" for her performance. Her family consisted of three sisters and a brother. Her mother tongue was Hungarian, and she regularly practised the language to stay fluent. Bruckner is a Californian from Hollywood born daughter of her Hungarian dad and Russian mother. Her maternal grandparents are German. They were introduced in Hungary. They immigrated in America.
